Anthropos

The question of the "anthropos" in the Anthropocene is explored by the speakers, who are aware of the Western origins of humanism. They seek to identify scenes in which the human and the more-than-human are excluded from particular entanglements. In doing so, they address the following question: What roles can performative, visual and textual practices play in transforming the meaning of "anthropos"?

Scene

This panel will examine the intricate nuances of the "scene" in the context of divers media and in relation to anthropogenic changes. How are "Anthroposcenes" established in performative and visual practices? What are the processes through which they emerge and what do they depict? How does the human appear on the Anthroposcene, and who are the other actors present?

Commonalities

What is the meaning of "common sense" in times of peculiarity, disorientation, and dislocation? In what circumstances might communities be formed, and who might have to adapt to new forms of relations? The speakers of this panel examine the concepts of weirdness, inter-species drag and mad gardeners, considering questions of subjectivity, humanity and politics in the era of the Anthropocene, while attempting to shift the human perspective.

Oceanic and Terrestrial Agents

What agents do we encounter in the Anthroposcenes and what is the context of their appearance? This panel addresses bodies of water, bodies longing for life on land, and extractivistically employed virtual bodies. The speakers focus on various medialities and artistic expressions that refer to these scenes or can themselves be regarded as such.

Transformative Practices

If the established practices of the Anthropocene render a future unfeasible, then what alternative practices might an "Anthroposcene" entail? In this panel, the speakers interweave thoughts on transformative practices and explore wandering, getting lost, practices of attunement, care, planetary thinking as various forms of performance. What conditions must be abandoned for this future to become a reality?
